Jam and Cream Cheese Toast

Tell me if this sounds familiar to you:

You get up early in the morning but you're tired of eating mediocre toast with butter that's hard as a rock. You want something different to excite your taste buds (and eyes), and I believe that this will do the trick. Best part is, this recipe proves that it doesn't take a lot of effort to create something incredible in the kitchen.

Ingredients

A slice of toast

Cream cheese

Jam of choice

Parmesan cheese (grated)

Salt

Pepper (optional)

A small drizzle of balsamic vinegar (optional)

Equipment

Steps:

  1. Lightly toast your bread using either a toaster or a frying pan.

  2. Mix the cream cheese and grated parmesan cheese together, along with some salt and pepper to taste.

  3. Evenly spread your chosen jam onto the toast.

  4. Use a small spoon to dollop the cream cheese topping on top of the jam. I chose to do diagonal stripes but get creative!

  5. Bake the toast in the oven (or toaster oven) at 180°C for about 5 minutes. You just want to heat up the cream cheese and get it slightly melty. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes:

  1. If you have more time on your hands or wanna impress your friends/family, you can use a piping bag to pipe the cream cheese topping. This gives you more precision when you're doing more complicated designs.

  2. Totally unnecessary, but you can sprinkle some finely chopped mint leaves and drizzle some extra balsamic vinegar on top for garnish before serving.
